Metro takes the prize for worst Andy Murray front page
A big sporting event, a disappointment for the nation, and a chance for tabloid headline writers to do their best to sum up Andy Murray’s so near but so far battle with Roger Federer in the Wimbledon tennis men’s final.
There is some quality and some dross as you would expect. Top marks to Mirror for a dignified page that get’s my vote for best front page this morning with the Sun on punning form.
It is the Mirror that I think has it over the Sun, but it is the Metro though that should hang its head in shame for a truly awful front page. Its back page (“Tear we go again”) is no better.
The FT also has a great picture choice as it eschews the obvious one of Murray’s face awash with anguish and instead opts for one with him retreating into the background suggesting a whole another story.
